Day 227 – You Must Focus

So its late Friday night and I am trying to get me a shot of something.  I finally had some inspiration, an egg being dropped and a picture taken at the moment of impact.  Yeah, it would be cool.  I started by getting the lights set up I used a bottle of Moutain Dew for my subject while I did this.


180mm f/22 1/200s From roughly 10 feet away. Pretty cool details huh.

So everything is set up. Well I couldn’t do rapid fire shooting to get the egg when I wanted it so I had to settle for an after shot. Notice anything different :( I must have bumped the tripod and not the focus off. The paper was a nightmare to work with I am never using scripture paper again from now on I am using the cover paper form the Ensign.

Day 99 – Just A Little Off The Top

I owe the inspiration for this picture to James Berghout a fellow Photowalking Utah/365er. His post First Haircut of the Season, well I knew that I would be copying the idea as soon as I saw it. I haven’t mowed the lawn for the entire time that I was off working on the shed. Needless to say the lawn is a little long. I love the depth of field on this

Once again it is a two-fer the first is my take of James’ shot and the second is just to show how long the grass was :)

Day 4 – Blog Header

I took a hint from a great photographer that I have never met, but admire alot.  Suzanne Plant is a photographer in the Salt Valley and started her own 365 challenge (link) at the beginning of the year.  One of her first pictures was her blog header.  I loved that idea and have been looking at a way to represent this project I am taking on.

I like the DOF on this picture as well as the angle, but I wish the parts that were in focus were sharper.

Day 3 – Reload

My hard drive has been failing for quite a while.  I finally got around to getting a new and I am in the fun process of rebuilding from a backup.  I do like Windows 7 for the record, but my primary system is a Fedora version of Linux.

Once again this is a picture that I am not thrilled with the focus it does not seem as sharp as it ought to be.  I do like the angles and how I used the rule of thirds in a diagonal.  the color contrast is nice as well.  I used a speed light and a 8.5X11 piece of paper to create some fill light on the right side.
