Day 330 – Brain Drain

Here is my brain drain, every-time I use it I lose IQ points and motivation. I am not sure what the “rules” are with Black and White, but when the color distracts from the “message” of my picture I remove it. Ansel Adams I ain’t. Also, I am fairly sure that I stole this idea from Suzanne Plant’s 365 (LINK), but I don’t remember when she did it.

Day 326 – Chores

My wife makes the chore chart in our house. I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised when one of my sons “chores” in this block was piano lessons. Yes those are the hands of an 8, not 80, year old.

Day 324 – Utter Devastation

I have needing to get this picture for a month or so. This is the result of a 3 year old being told no. I think that this particular fit was after being told to stop hitting the piano.

We also had our annual eye appointment my wife got new colored contacts and wanted a picture of a dual colored eyes. I love that from across the room I can read “DEMO” that was printed on the contacts. I love the Badzooka (70-200mm f/2.8).

Day 195 – Misery

Onward and upward with my lighting experimentation. I was trying to get something that was “dramatic” read somber. My daughter went with sad and she won This was done with a snooted speedlight on for the face at 1/8th power and a second light in a mini softbox @ 1/64 power in front and below. Then I converted it to BW in Lightroom.

Day 64 – In The Distance

I felt like crap today my back was hurting. I had no motivation to do anything. So this honestly was a throw-up (not puke) shot. However, after I cropped it down and changed it to Black and White I started to like it a little bit more.

I like the picture, but the background was a little too cluttered and the Photoshopping I did was sloppy (remember no motivation). Sorry. However, something that I do like is the sense of wonder that it portrays.

Day 7 – Checkmate

Somehow chess has taken over my house… I’m not sure how I’ve never been into chess and my wife has never expressed any interest in it. The kids finally convinced her to go to a chess club at the local library and have been hooked ever since.

I really, really like this picture. This is a major WWMD (What Would Macgyver Do) shot. I really was hoping that I could figure out how to use my flash off camera. No such luck. So a crappy little LED flash light on a tote held in place by my wife, a long shutter speed and there you go. I converted it to BW in camera and used GIMP to clean up some of the dirt and dings in the board.
