Don’t ask me I have no idea what it means. I think I kinda understand what it does though. You put this on your flashes so that the color matches that of incandescent lighting so if you are indoors set your white balance to incandescent/tungsten and everything matches correctly (you can do this with florescent as well). One really cool side effect is outside you can turn blue skies even bluer. Check out my favorite example of this here (LINK) No its cool I’ll wait. So I was playing with this just to get a feel for things. The only thing changed in all the images is the white balance.

And just for fun here is a BTS shot. On both of the above shots I use the on camera flash set to ttl -.7 And I don’t know what the other flashes were set at. The flash behind the umbrella has the CTO gel and the flash on the background is bare.
