Day 93 – Somebody Explain It To Me

How does this help my middle son learn his spelling words?? My wife claims that it does, but it just looks like the baby making a mess. 🙂

Day 92 – Rainy Day Picnic

Memorial day is for remembering those who have gone on before us, but sometime a good BBQ with family is a great way to is just the way to do that. My brother and his wife came down late Sunday and had to leave early Monday afternoon so we made the best of it by staying up late talking about life and family. It was a really good time. However, because of that we slept in and didn’t have a lot of time to do a real BBQ. So we made appetizers and threw some stuff on grill. We even tried to eat outside until the rain and the cold drove us back inside.

The glaze on the pineapple and chicken was amazing. I hope Belinda will share the recipe in the comments. 🙂

Day 91 – Bad Enough

That you kick me out of my room, but then you sit in the living room and talk until 3 in the morning. Give me a break, and let me go to sleep.

Day 88 – Rewards

My daughters 6th grade teacher gives out rubber duckies as rewards. I find it amazing what kids, and adults, will do to get little trinkets. Apparently there is a shortage of the some of the ducks and the kids will do whatever is necessary to get the special duck. The “nerd” and the “unicorn” (barely seen in upper left) are my daughter’s favorite.

Day 87 – Role Reversal

I have gotten several, ok two, questions about my macro set-up so here it is. At least until I have the money for the 105mm Micro lens.

I use my Nikon 50mm f/1.8 it is cheap, but by far my most used lens; it is fast, light and has manual aperture control which all lend themselves perfectly for this application. Then I have a reversal ring that screws into the filter thread and then has the Nikon mount on the other side. So the part that is generally in the camera is flying free in the air. It is a little disconcerting, but after a while you get used to it. Focusing takes a little effort and so does getting the exposure right; because those have to be done entirely manual. To focus I have to move back and forth millimeters at a time to get the razor thin DOF in focus, and sometimes it doesn’t work out so well.

Day 86 – Stupid Delete Button

Yeah I lost today’s picture to the delete button as well. I just was not paying attention. So here is a shot I took at the CLS class. I want to be clear on a point this was another photographer’s bridal so she had put the bride in this column of light at the state capital I don’t know what her vision was, but when I saw her there I just saw a “dark” stage with her in the spotlight.

Question for you real photographers was this a no-no?

Day 85 – Bring The Heat

I love me my hot sauce and this is one of my favorites. Just hot enough to make me sweat, but not so hot I stop eating. 🙂
